Camping is what we do best! Especially this last weekend. Holy cow, we had a blast! Clayton, Joe, Andrea, and I went up to this place for the first time and found that we can do everything there. We got there Friday night but hadn't called in advance to make reservations. So yes, we were totally taking a risk and crossing our fingers that we would have a place to stay. Turned out, we were able to get the perfect spot that nobody had shown up to claim. Super exciting! We brought our trailer and quads up, got them set up, and then called it a night to start our awesome camping experience the next morning. We woke up at about 8 am and then Andrea and I made eggs, bacon and fried potatoes for breakfast. Nothing better than a camping breakfast :P We then packed our chicken salad sandwiches and chips in the car to head off quading. The trails there are so awesome and are just up the road. I was a little nervous at first because we only have two quads. I have never ridden on the back of a quad before and Clayton being the driver, didnt make me feel better haha he loves going crazy and taking risks on those things. I, on the other hand, drive like a grandma, cautious as ever haha but i didnt want to take turns and sit around so i sucked it up and got on the back....IT WAS A BLAST!! Andrea rode with joe behind us and we went all over the trails. I wish i had ridden on the back with Clay on previous trips. He allowed me to enjoy quading in a way that i would never allow myself to riding solo.
It was a shame though that I ended up breaking my wrist only after a couple of hours. Our tire hit a stump and turned our handle bars in, smashing my wrist. So our quading ended with a trip to the nearest ER. haha We put together our chicken salad sandwiches in the car on the way there and ate up. We were at the ER for Four boring hours. We all fell asleep at some point while waiting. BUT, i found out for sure that it was broken, got a temporary cast, and some pain pills :D We got back to the campsite in time to make tacos and then go night fishing! it was beautiful out there by the lake. So many stars and it was so peaceful.
Sadly, we didnt catch any fish. We went back to make a fire and eat s'mores. Joe and andrea brought cookies and cream chocolate to put in the smores instead of chocolate. Holy cow, They were UHMAZING! I dont know why we had never thought to do that before. Ha!
Sunday, we woke up and made eggs, sausage, and pancakes; another perfect camping breakfast :) We set out fishing again after and the boys ended up going swimming as well. The fish just didnt seem to be around so much for us haha it was fun anyways though, and like i said before, it was beautiful out there.
We made pigs in a poncho for lunch. I found the recipe on Pinterest and just had to try it out. They were so delicious and perfect. We will definitely be making them again. We finished off the day going shooting. It was a first time for Andrea to shoot our shot gun :) I couldn't shoot it so I stuck with my .22; which is so much fun shooting one handed. I love it and am so happy Clayton got it for me for Valentines day haha
After shooting for a couple hours, we went home. Of course after dropping the quads off we notice a huge air bubble in our trailer tier. We seriously cant go a trip without pulling over to change a tier. This air bubble was the size of Claytons fist. Thank goodness it didnt explode on us while driving. That would have been a disaster!
Overall, it was an amazing weekend and trip that we are all excited about doing again. Hopefully we can even make it a monthly thing :P Now about my wrist! Gosh it sucks only having one hand. I didnt realize how much i needed both hands until now. Clayton has been awesome helping me out as much as he can. I am truly grateful for him :)
